What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a pleasant state of relaxation and concentration, which you allow
yourself to enter for heightened awareness. A deeply relaxed state is created
where mental stress and bodily tension are reduced. In this state, the mind is
usually more open to the process of change, creating a pathway towards physical
and emotional well-being.
Hypnotherapy aids in the access to the subconscious, or unconscious, mind. The
client is then more able to draw upon

his or her imaginative, creative, and explorational resources.
The therapist can then offer suggestions for more helpful and positive ways of
addressing problems.
Hypnotherapy may also be used for the recall of past experiences. This can aid
in dealing with present difficulties. This could mean again experiencing significant
events in the client's life.
This is helpful in tracing the development of phobias, and dealing with the effects
of trauma.
A hypnotherapist cannot hypnotize an unwilling subject, nor can anyone be made
to do anything against their will while in an hypnotic state. While in hypnosis,
the client is still generally aware of his or her surroundings, and can choose
to come out of hypnosis at anytime.
Hypnosis has been proven to be a highly effective therapeutic aid. It may be used
as a therapy on its own, or in conjunction with psychotherapy.
