What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy refers to the treatment of emotional and relationship problems and behaviours through the use of psychological, rather than physical means. Communication between the therapist and the client is the most significant element of psychotherapy. It is concerned with the evaluation of problems and possible solutions, as well as with the encouragement of more helpful ways of thinking and behaving.

The psychotherapist seeks to establish a relationship that encourages the client to express deeply felt issues and concerns, in an atmosphere that is

safe, non-judgemental, and confidential. This is done by talking with and listening to the client.

I work in an eclectic way, using various therapeutic methods, according to the needs of the client. We might explore past, as well as present experiences. The importance of feelings, as well as thoughts, will be emphasized, in an atmosphere of warmth, mutual respect, and acceptance.
